India Urges IMF to Reconsider Aid to Pakistan Amid Terror Funding Concerns
In a decisive statement, India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called upon the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to reassess its recent financial assistance to Pakistan, expressing apprehensions that the funds could be diverted to support terrorist activities. Addressing personnel at the Bhuj Air Force Station, Singh alleged that Pakistan is channeling resources to reconstruct terrorist networks dismantled during India's recent military operation, codenamed "Operation Sindoor." He claimed that Pakistan has allocated ₹14 crore to rebuild the infrastructure of groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed in regions such as Muridke and Bahawalpur .
"The IMF aid will be used to fund these terrorist organisations. Pakistan should not be given any financial aid, or it will fund terror. We want the IMF to think over again," Singh asserted .
Singh's remarks come in the wake of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly after the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of 27 individuals. India's subsequent military response, Operation Sindoor, targeted terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, reportedly eliminating over 100 terrorists, including key masterminds .
