RO Water Facility Launched at Ima Keithel by MP Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and DC Imphal West
In a significant step towards ensuring clean and safe drinking water for the public, Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, Member of Parliament (Inner Manipur), along with the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West, inaugurated an RO water facility at Ima Keithel, one of the largest run women’s markets in the world, also known as Khwairamband Keithel.
The newly installed RO water unit aims to provide accessible and hygienic drinking water to vendors, shoppers, and visitors of the historic market. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance public amenities and promote health and hygiene in crowded marketplaces.
Speaking at the launch event, Dr. Bimol Akoijam highlighted the importance of such facilities in safeguarding public health, especially for women vendors who spend long hours at the market. The DC of Imphal West also expressed optimism that this initiative will set a model for similar facilities across other public places in the state.
