Imphal Hosts Apprenticeship Awareness Campaign to Boost Entrepreneurial Growth.

A one-day Apprenticeship Awareness Campaign was successfully conducted at Hotel Classic, Imphal, bringing together key stakeholders, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs to promote skill development and employment opportunities in Manipur.

The programme was organized by the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (RDSDE) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The event was held in association with NE Brothers Private Limited and witnessed active participation from 35 established entrepreneurs from across Manipur.

The event commenced with a welcome address delivered by Nelson Elangbam of NE Brothers Private Limited, who highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in strengthening entrepreneurship and skill development in the region. He warmly welcomed the dignitaries, speakers, and participants, emphasizing the role of such initiatives in empowering local businesses.

The programme was graced by several eminent personalities including Dr. Kh. Somorendro Singh (ICM Ex Director), Thangjam Joykumar Singh (Managing Director, Thangjam Agro Industries Pvt. Ltd. & President, AMEA), and Dr. RK Nimai (IAS, Retd.), who attended as the main speakers of the event.

Addressing the gathering, the speakers shared valuable insights on entrepreneurship, industry challenges, and opportunities for growth in the region. They emphasized the importance of skill development, structured training, and the role of apprenticeship in building a competent workforce.

A key highlight of the programme was a detailed presentation on “Introduction to Apprenticeship and Apprenticeship Landscape,” followed by discussions on key provisions under the Apprenticeship Act, rules, and guidelines. The session also emphasized the achievements and benefits of apprenticeship schemes in strengthening workforce skills and enhancing employability.

Participants actively engaged in the Question & Answer session, raising practical concerns and exploring ways to implement apprenticeship models within their businesses. The programme further included a hands-on walkthrough of the Apprenticeship Portal, guiding entrepreneurs through the process of registration and implementation.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by a dinner, providing an opportunity for networking and collaboration among participants.

The campaign marked a significant step toward fostering industry-academia collaboration and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Manipur, with stakeholders expressing optimism about the future of skill development initiatives in the region.
