Hamas Says US Ceasefire Proposal Means ‘Continuation of Killing’ in Gaza
Hamas has rejected the recent US-backed ceasefire proposal, calling it a plan that would “continue the killing and famine” in Gaza, rather than bring relief or resolution.

Senior Hamas official Bassem Naim said, “The US plan does not respond to any of our people's demands, foremost among which is stopping the war and famine.” He added that the proposal, “in its current form, would result in the continuation of killing and famine in Gaza.”

Another Hamas representative told media outlets, “The plan lacks commitments to a permanent ceasefire and does not ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.” He added that the group would “respond in due course,” but stressed that the plan “does not satisfy our core demands, including an end to the war.”

According to reports, the US ceasefire plan includes a 60-day truce, the release of 28 Israeli hostages, and a prisoner exchange involving Palestinian detainees. It also involves the delivery of humanitarian aid through the UN and other organizations, once Hamas agrees to the terms.

However, Hamas has voiced skepticism about the plan’s integrity, with officials warning that it could “allow Israel to resume military operations after the temporary pause, just like what happened after the March 2025 ceasefire.”

Meanwhile, humanitarian agencies report that Gaza is on the brink of total collapse. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has warned of “imminent collapse without additional international support.”

As the war rages on, with mounting civilian casualties and a growing humanitarian crisis, Hamas's firm rejection of the ceasefire deal underscores the deep divide between diplomatic proposals and the realities on the ground.
